What does tesserae mean?
Tesserae (plural) are the pieces of porcelain, ceramic, glass, stone, or found objects cut into shape and set into a base with hundreds or thousands of others, creating a picture or design called a mosaic.
We use the highest quality tessera (singular) possible to create a long lasting and beautiful piece of art.
Some of the products used in the making of mosaics in our studio are:
Vitreous Glass
A frost-proof molded glass with a wide color selection and several styles and finishes.
Marble – polished honed & tumbled
Either polished or honed, an elegant, long-lasting natural stone, available in a select group of colors.
Italian Smalti
A hand-cut enameled glass produced in Venice & Murano, Italy, with a glittery light-refractive surface and the most complete range of colors to choose from making it ideal for more artistic designs including portraits, landscapes and seascapes.

With either smooth or rough surfaces, stones offer a natural and textural appearance and have a limited selection of colors. Pebbles make beautiful mosaic pavements for patios, atriums, and other floors both interior and exterior.
Semi-Precious Stones and Pearls
Whether in bead, cabochon or cut form these objects can add a luxurious touch to any mosaic.
Found Objects
Art glass beads, buttons, marbles, keys, milagros, soft drink pull-tabs, whatever you can imagine to make your mosaic a true one-of-a-kind art piece.
